Back to Bangkok

The Cambodian temple

The morning got off to a good start when we found a nice, small burger place not far from our guest house. The place called itself "Stiky's burgers" or something like that. There was a map of the world on the wall, where people had attached their greetings with small Post-it stickers. Many had written that they had eaten the best burgers in their lives there. The burgers we ate were good indeed, but a bit too expensive for my taste.

Before going back to Bangkok, there was one more temple to see. The locals told us that there's a magnificent Cambodian temple just on the other side of the river so we started searching for the cheapest possible tuk-tuk once again. After haggling for a while we agreed on a fair price and set off towards the temple. It was early morning again, and the tourists from Bangkok hadn't arrived yet so we had the temple almost only for ourselves! It's hard to tell which one of the temples was the most beautiful, but this last Cambodian one must be in top three.

I think we didn't spend more than half an hour at the temple, but it was somehow enough to see everything interesting there. The tuk-tuk raced us to the railway station where we bought ridiculously cheap (20 bahts) tickets to Bangkok. The trip took almost two hours. Most of that time was spent in Bangkok, but it took a good while before we reached the final station.

We didn't feel like spending any extra time searching for a place to stay so we walked straight to the hostel we had used five weeks earlier. On the way we had to cross one of the horridly smelly rivers, and I saw one of those big monitor lizards swimming in there! I can't believe that they can survive in such dirty water.

At the guest house we took the cheapest room possible, but were quickly moved to a better one as the cheapest room didn't have any electricity. Once again we got all this for the price of the cheaper room so ten points for the River View Guest House for customer service.

Red was the color of the evening.

Later in the evening we went to see the modern parts of Bangkok. By looking at our map, we randomly chose a sky train station and stopped there. After walking for a while we noticed that we had found the red light district of Bangkok. The pimps came to us with their offers, and the fact that I was walking with Inna surely didn't slow them down. I must be jinxed in some strange way because we were able to find the red light district with Pate in Frankfurt also, and that was pretty much everything we saw in the whole city!

On the way back Inna bought a small bag for herself. She was able to bargain the price down to a fifth of the original price :). Looks like she should be the one doing the talking in the future!

Before sleeping we watched tv for the first time in Asia. It was nice to see (or hear) that the movies weren't dubbed. I was too sleepy to concentrate on what was on the tv and fell asleep quite fast.

Where are their heads?

One could think that Asian food is smth really different. It looks so and tastes so! But mostly they use rice and chicken, in all different cooking ways :). There are lots of various seafood too - I enjoyed it so much! And I was the first one who always was curious about every new meal :). I'm really happy we tasted almost everything they offer on the picture above and I don't know why, but Thai food tasted so much better to me than Malaysian.
P.S. ask what you are going to get in your plate and if it's too spicy before pointing on smth that looks tasty to you! ;)

I totally agree with you! You were almost always the first one of us who wanted to try something new. I didn't have any problems with the street restaurants, but I usually sticked to my favorites: chicken and rice or pork with noodles. I'm happy you let me taste your foods too as many of them were really tasty! Be sure to remember Inna's advice regarding the hot food!
