Aquarium

The previous night we had found a big aquarium right in the center of Kuala Lumpur and this day's plan was to visit it. Inna told me that she has always wanted to visit one and although I'd like to see the creatures in their natural habitat, this wasn't a bad alternative either.

One of the smaller aquariums

The entrance fee was rather high but I got a great discount with my Finnish student card. Unfortunately Inna's student card had expired already so we didn't get a discount for her. The "aquarium" appeared to be something more than just an aquarium. In addition to sea creatures there were some mammals and plenty of insects and reptiles.

Inna seemed to be slightly disappointed at first because we only saw a few smaller aquariums with electric eels, crabs and jellyfish in them. After that we saw a funny small mammal doing somersaults and hunting its own tail :). Perhaps one day I'll add the video I shot of it.

The real deal started when we passed the reptile-section and saw the first bigger aquarium. Inna cheered up instantly :). The first big aquarium was a tall tube with a lot of small to medium sized fish in it. Next to that there was a guide feeding some bigger fish with something attached to a long stick. Right after that we met the lovely small stingrays who were longing for our touches and splashed water on our faces and cameras when we came to give them!

The best part of the aquarium was only coming though. A huge aquarium with grey nurse sharks, moray eels, stingrays and who knows what else! There was a tunnel going through the aquarium and we could see how the creatures were swimming above our heads! We spent a good while there, spotting smaller and bigger animals and trying to take a few good photos.

After this huge tank there wasn't much else to see. Only a few really small aquariums and a souvenir shop in the end. Anyway we spent maybe three hours inside and it was well worth it!

Later in the evening we went to a cinema in Suria KLCC to see Salt. The movie was better than I had expected but the theater was COLD. I don't know what's wrong with the people there but it seems like they really like to turn their air conditioners to the max. After the movie I was happy for the first time in Asia about the sauna-like weather outside :).

Inna posing with the towers :).

A stingray ready to make me wet

Doesn't it look like it has a face there?

I've always liked moray eels. Such fierce animals.

I wouldn't pick up a fight with this guy.

It's a great place for watching animals so close. Even sharks didn't look so angry :) but I am not ready to swim with them yet!

I wonder what sharks you saw?! The grey nurse sharks with their sharp teeth looked pretty damn grim to me at least :)!
