To Ko Samui

Our bungalow on Ko Samui

Once again we had to wake up pretty early to return the moped. Initially we had agreed to rent it for one day but we visited the office the second day and they said it's ok to have it for two. The woman looked very puzzled when I finally returned the moped because their papers said that I should have returned it the day before. She didn't tell me anything about it but her expression was funny.

With our backpacks we walked to the harbour and took the first boat to the biggest of the three islands, Ko Samui. This time we had to pay 200 bahts for the trip. Ko Samui even has its own airport there, and it showed. While the first two islands we visited were almost empty, Samui was full of everything. The nature seemed spoiled, buildings and big roads were all over the place and it felt like I couldn't hear even my own thoughts over the traffic.

On the other hand our bungalow was the best so far: no snakes, no lizards, no spiders and still the price was the same, 300 bahts per night. The beach was beautiful too but the water was way too murky for snorkeling.

In the evening we went to eat and to walk a bit but there really was nothing to see around the place where we stayed. It felt like we could have been in an industrial city instead of an island somewhere in Southeast Asia.

This is what could be called a typical Thai meal.
