15.11.2017  - An autumn weekend in Bologna, San Marino and Florence

We spent a nice long weekend in Tuscany in Italy and in San Marino in October together with Inna and my father. The weather was even warmer than it usually is that time of the year and we enjoyed our trip thoroughly.

Not everything went according to our plans however as my father found San Marinese balconies so fascinating that he forgot to steer and broke one of the tires of our rental car! We were in luck however because the Rimini airport isn't all that far away from San Marino and were were able to get a new rental car from there even though it was Saturday afternoon. After the incident my father made sure to stop before marveling at architecture :L.

Florence proved to be a very beautiful city and much easier and more pleasant to navigate on foot than Bologna. The downside is that other people know about the beauty of Florence too and it was packed with tourists even in the end of October. I don't even want to imagine what the city must be like in summer...

This kind of cars they use to guide planes in Bologna.

This small shop in Bologna was absolutely packed with meat and cheese and it sure smelled like it!

One of many lovely cakes we saw in the window of a bakery in Bologna

The very center of Bologna. Impressive but very noisy and not very friendly towards pedestrians.

The leaning tower in Pisa might be the most famous but certainly not the only tower about to fall in Italy!

Inna found her favorite car at the Imola race track.

And I found mine?

On the way to the city of San Marino we stopped to watch the local rally competition for a while.

The broken tire. RIP

The city (and country) of San Marino is small but stunningly beautiful.

Some piece of art that caught my eye in San Marino

Architecture like this can be found all over Florence.

As well as these uniquely decorated traffic signs...

Another one

Perseus with the Head of Medusa

Part of the huge Florence Cathedral. It must be one of the most spectacular cathedrals that I've seen.

Do you like my new hat? Let me know in the comments!

Ponte Vecchio bridge that is home to many small shops that sell mostly jewelry and souveniers. It's also the only bridge in Florence that survived the second world war.
